AVU included in the 2021 SCImago Institution Ranking
5/4/2021The international ranking classifies universities based on their scientific publications. The SCImago Institutions Ranking (SIR) places “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad on the 149th place out of a total of 414 Eastern European universities. The ranking includes only those universities which fulfil the minimal criteria regarding the number of published scientific papers. SIR`s evaluation criteria include the following indicators: Research (50%), Innovation (30%) and Social Impact (20%), in accord with the methodology published on the https://www.scimagoir.com/ website.
In the ranking dedicated to Research, AVU takes the 126th overall place while for Computer Sciences it occupies the 123rd place, surpassing universities such as the Western University of Timisoara, “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu or the University of Oradea.
“This ranking proves the importance of research in higher education. The fact that AVU is included in this ranking further motivates us in applying an institutional strategy meant to support scientific research; the results of this activity are a real catalyst for AVU`s position within international rankings, and implicitly, in raising the institution`s international and national visibility factor” added AVU`s Rector, Ramona Lile.
