New secondary school opens under the aegis of AVU and Arad Archdiocese
3/25/2022„Bishop Ioan Mețianu” Secondary School, located on Academia Teologică street no.9 (inside the “Ilarion Felea” Faculty of Orthodox Theology building) has been publicly opened for the 2022-2023 school year.
The official opening has been attended by Ramona Lile, Rector of „Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, the Archbishop of Arad archdiocese, Timotei Seviciu, Reverend Father Emilian Crișanul, vicar- bishop of Arad Archdiocese, PhD. Cristinel Ioja, Dean - „Ilarion V. Felea” Faculty of Orthodox Theology as well as representatives of the Cetatea Voluntarilor NGO. Alina Nasui, the school`s coordinator, was also present.
Two classrooms provide future schoolchildren with the best possible amenities. The involvement of the Cetatea Voluntarilor NGO transformed the educational space in a colorful and tasteful setting, with modern conveniences that will afford an exceptional pedagogical value to all teaching activities.
„This moment proves what can be achieved when the academia, church and civil society join forces. It is a project that required both AVU and Arad Archdiocese to heavily invest heart and soul. We would like to also extend our gratitude towards Cetatea Voluntarilor, who have joined our efforts and transformed the two classrooms in a welcoming space for future schoolchildren” added Ramona Lile AVU`s Rector.
Reverend Father Emilian Crișanul, vicar- bishop of Arad Archdiocese, also highlighted the excellent collaboration among School, Church and Civil Society, mentioning the quality of the educational act:” The local community will have a new school that shall provide high standard instruction to all, regardless of their religious faiths. I urge parents to direct their children towards this educational institution, one that belongs to both the university and the church”.
The enrolment process for the infant class will commence on the 11th of April in accord with the Methodology for Primary education. The school is not assigned to a particular circumscription, meaning that children can be enrolled regardless of their official domicile.
