First Victory for UAV Team in University Football Championship Qualifiers

First match, first win for the football team of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad (coach: Claudiu Bulzan), against the UBB Cluj team (coach: Septimiu Ormenișan).

With a score of 3-1, the Arad team secured a victory in the first leg of the preliminary round for qualification to the National University Football Championship. The return match will take place on April 15, in Cluj-Napoca.

Goals for UAV were scored as follows: an own goal by Cluj, But Cezar (46th minute), Gavrilă Andrei (48th minute), and Ahmet Eckmeci (73rd minute). For UBB, Claudiu Curea scored in the 40th minute.

"UBB is a strong opponent. I was nervous before the match, but I’m happy the boys managed to score. After a first half that ended 1-0 in favor of Cluj, the team regrouped, fought hard on the pitch, and secured our first win. We’re now looking ahead to the return match in Cluj—it will be a tough game, but we hope to make it to the final tournament, which will be held in Alba Iulia," said Claudiu Bulzan, coach of the UAV team, after the game.

Last year, the UAV team won the National University Football Championship and participated in the European university tournament, where they placed 8th.

The match was held today, April 7th, at the football field of the Victoria Felnac Sports Base.
