Citizens from non- EU countries can apply to any of the study programmes on offer provided that they meet all the requirements imposed by the legislation in force as well as by the university’s internal regulations.

Compulsory Documents for Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Applications/Romanian Preparatory Year
- Application form - Letter acceptance
- Application form – all fields are compulsory and the form should be submitted in 2 copies (please specify if you are interested in the Romanian Language Preparatory Year);
- Declaration of Authenticity
- Consent to the collection and use of personal data
- Birth certificate - copy and legally certified translation;
- Copy of the passport – valid at least 6 months after the Letter of Acceptance to studies has been issued;
- Copy of the document attesting foreign residency (if applicable);
- High School Graduation diploma, according to the list provided by the Ministry of Education or its equivalent, apostilled/authenticated by the competent authorities of the issuing country (copy and legalized translation - in Romanian or in an international language (English or French);
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, if you apply for Master Programme, apostilled/authenticated by the competent authorities of the issuing country - copy and legalized translation - in Romanian or in an international language (English or French);
- Transcript of grades - legally certified copies and translations – for all completed studies (High School and Bachelor) as well as the analytical curriculum in the case of candidates that request the equivalence of studies;
- Copy of the certificate attesting graduating the Romanian Language Preparatory Year or linguistic competences in other languages (English, French, German) (according to the language requirements of the elected study programme);
- Medical certificate (issued in an international language) attesting that the candidate does not suffer from any infectious ailments that are incompatible with their future profession;
- Proof of payment of the non-refundable processing fee of 500 lei, containing the name of the admission candidate;
- Complete contact data details: postal address, e-mail address, phone number.
- Photo ¾ format.

Compulsory Documents for Doctoral Studies Applications
Foreign citizens can apply for doctoral studies in higher education in Romania if they:
a) Hold documents proving their citizenship of the respective state;
b) Have a master's degree or its equivalent.
Application File (compiled in two identical copies) should include the following documents:
- Application form - Letter acceptance
- Application form – all fields are compulsory and the form should be submitted in 2 copies (please specify if you are interested in the Romanian Language Preparatory Year);
- Declaration of Authenticity
- Consent to the collection and use of personal data
- Birth certificate - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Copy of the passport – valid at least 6 months after the Letter of Acceptance to studies has been issued;
- Copy of the identity card from the country of residence;
- Copy of the document attesting foreign residency;
- High School Graduation diploma, according to the list provided by the Ministry of Education or its equivalent, apostilled/authenticated by the competent authorities of the issuing country (copy and legalized translation - in Romanian or in an international language (English or French);
- Bachelor's and Master's Degree diploma or their equivalent, apostilled/authenticated by the competent authorities of the issuing country - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Certificate proving the successful completion of the master's exam for current year graduates - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Annual transcripts/degree supplements/discipline sheets - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Certificate of completion of the Romanian language preparatory program or language proficiency certificate, if applicable;
- Minutes of the equivalence commission showing the year of study the candidate may be enrolled in and any exams to be taken, as determined by each university/faculty, by comparing curricula and analytical programs.
- Medical certificate issued in the country of residence confirming that the candidate does not suffer from contagious diseases or other conditions incompatible with university studies, translated, if necessary, into Romanian, English, or French;
- Copy of the marriage certificate or any other document confirming a name change, if applicable - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Parental or guardian consent regarding the stay for study purposes in Romania, if the foreigner is a minor - copy and legalized translation into Romanian or an internationally spoken language (English or French);
- Preliminary agreement from a doctoral coordinator/doctoral school, if applicable, a doctoral research project related to the doctoral theme the candidate is applying for, and the curriculum vitae, if applicable;
- Proof of payment of the non-refundable processing fee of 500 lei, including the candidate's name for admission;
- A color photo in ¾ format.

Admission Process for International Students
- The International Students Officer at "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad (AVU) reviews and registers complete application files.
- Approved files are forwarded to the Admissions Committee of the relevant faculty for evaluation.
- Admitted candidates are submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.
- The Ministry issues a Letter of Acceptance, which is required for university enrollment and the student visa application.
- Applications must be submitted by September 15, and the final list of admitted candidates is forwarded to the Ministry by September 30.
- Incomplete applications are rejected; however, they may be resubmitted once completed.
- Accepted students will receive their Letter of Acceptance via the International Students Department.
Steps to Follow After Receiving the Letter of Acceptance:
- Pay the full tuition fee for the academic year as stated in the admission documents;
- Apply for a student visa at the Romanian diplomatic mission in their country of residence;
- Provide evidence of sufficient financial means to support studies and living expenses in Romania;
- Secure accommodation, either in AVU’s student dormitories or via private rental;
- Obtain valid health insurance, if not already provided by a national or international policy.
Upon Arrival in Romania
All newly admitted international students must report to the Office for International Relations at AVU. From there, they will be directed to their chosen faculty to complete the enrollment process, which includes signing the study contract and submitting the following documents:
- A copy of the Letter of Acceptance issued by the Ministry of Education;
- Original diplomas and academic documents, along with certified Romanian translations;
- Copy of passport and student visa;
- Birth certificate, accompanied by a certified Romanian translation;
- Medical certificate (in Romanian or English) attesting that the student is free from contagious diseases incompatible with the field of study;
- Two recent photographs (3x4 cm);
- Proof of tuition fee payment.
These documents will form the student's official personal file at AVU. All original documents will be returned to the student upon completion of their studies.
